The Rangers' opener against the Blackhawks Wednesday attracted an average of 2.4 percent of homes in the New York area - tied for second-best ever for a regular-season Rangers game on NBCSN.

It is second only to a 2014 game against the Islanders that had a 3.6 rating.

Wednesday's game, before which the Blackhawks' latest Stanley Cup banner was raised, averaged 4.7 percent of homes in the Chicago area - even with the Cubs playing in the National League wild-card game.

Nationally, the game averaged an 0.77 rating in major markets, the second-best regular-season figure for a game on NBCSN.
