Rangers will qualify Prust, not Christensen

The Q-offer deadline is 5 p.m. today.  Multiple-year offers are out to RFAs Marc Staal and Dan Girardi.

Brandon Prust, obtained in the Ales Kotalik/Chris Higgins trade, will receive an offer, but Erik Christensen won't. Rangers hope the center will agree on a two-year deal for a little less money per....

Both players are 26. Prust earned $525,000 last season, so the q-offer has to be minimum of  110 percent, or $577,500. Christensen received $750,000 last year, so would be due $825,000. Rangers are gambling that as a UFA, Christensen will sign for two that would average less than the $825,000....

Offers must be accepted by July 15; arbitration-eligible players must file by July 5.
