Here at Greenburgh, waiting for noon practice. Will update on Gaborik and any other developments.
It would be a different development if Donald Brashear plays tomorrow night in Pittsburgh. He has been a healthy scratch in 11 of the past 12 games. He told the Bergen Record that he has asked for a trade. "That’s more likely why I’m not playing any games," he told the Record. "Usually, when you ask for a trade, they don’t play you."
TSN reports today that the Rangers have put Brashear on waivers. He is practicing with the team, though.
It is hard to imagine what kind of trade value Brashear has. He has not shown a great skill in fighting this season, and that essentially is the one thing that has earned him an NHL career. His signing was seen as odd by some Rangers fans, who were upset with his pulverizing hit on Blair Betts in the playoffs.
One thing is certain, the Capitals don't seem to be reeling for having let Brashear go.
