Ryan McDonagh out, but knee "better than expected"

A few minutes ago here in Ottawa, coach John Tortorella said rookie D Ryan McDonagh, who wrenched his knee at mid-ice while attempting to check Kyle Brodziak last night, would be out, but that there was no tear or structural damage, and there wasn;t that much swelling. "He's day to day," Torts said.

McDonagh had played in 25 straight games after his recall from the AHL. He has no goals and five assists but provides a strong defensive presence.

Vet Steve Eminger will step in and partner with Bryan McCabe.  Mark Staal, who returned last night from a knee injury, will play with Dan Girardi and Michael Sauer and Matt Gilroy are the third pair.
