Sean Avery, as expected, clears waivers

No other team claimed Sean Avery before noon, even at a cut-rate price. GMs are aware that the Grate One has said he really only wants to play for the Rangers.

So, it will be a media circus at practice tomorrow, and we still may not know whether or not he'll play against Anaheim at MSG on Thursday.  But No. 16 is back, for at least as long as Mike Rupp (knee) is sidelined, and perhaps longer.

And about the lineup on Thursday: I'm guessing Henrik Lundqvist will return to the net after Martin Biron stepped in against the Sharks.  Biron could play again in one of the back to backs this weekend vs Montreal and Winnipeg. Coach John Tortorella said if all goes accoring to plan, Lundqvist will play about 65 games this season, leaving the rest, about 17, for Biron.
