....is scheduled for 1 p.m. in Westchester, just about when the Winter Classic is scheduled to begin at Fenway. Check back here for reports from the practice.

The only way to build on last night's very positive effort---still just two goals though, but 35 shots----both players and coaches said in a loud, spirited visitors' locker room in Raleigh, is to cut down the Canes again tomorrow afternoon at MSG, where the Blueshirts' record (8-10-2) simply must improve. Yes, it's premature, but six clubs are within three points of the eighth playoff spot in the East. Boston and Dallas visit the Garden next week.

Had one eye on the World Juniors U.S.-Canada (5-4, Canada in SO) game on press row---as did most folks on the media level last night, and just had the feeling that Ranger prospect Chris Kreider's penalty shot flub would haunt the Americans. Ah, well. Next step: Beating Finland.

It appears my flight back to NYC is boarding, so...remember to follow me for real-time Rangers and NHL news and pithy (ahem) commentary on twitter.com/stevezipay in 2010 and here for live chats, game and practice dispatches, transactions and analysis. Cheers...
