Torts: Mike Rupp's knee "a concern"; seeing another doc; more

Winger Mike Rupp, who did not practice again today and will not play tomorrow, is seeing another doctor about his achy left knee, coach John Tortorella said. "He needs to practice...it's a concern."  Torts did not rule out surgery. Rupp, who signed a three-year deal on July 1, has one goal in seven games...

D Jeff Woywitka will start tomorrow against the Sharks. Torts said organization still looking for help on defense, as well. "we're talking about a lot of different things,"  although did not mention names. Anton Stralman, who was not signed by Devils after a tryout, did receive an offer last week, I'm told.

Michael Del Zotto (hip) who sat out practice, is expected to play, as is Artem Anisimov (sore neck).

Torts said Mats Zuccarello was considered for a callup, but no space for him in Top 9 right now.  "I want to stick with the three lines that finished the game." The role they need to fill is fourth-line, Newbury/Rupp-style player, and that's Andre Deveaux.

The team has not heard from the NHL about the Wojtek Wolski shoulder/elbow on a moving Daniel Alfredsson, indicating that a suspension isn't likely.

Tim Erixon's minutes had slipped in the past two or three games, Torts said, explaining his demotion. "He's a kid and needs to play. He's goping to be a really good player for a long time in this organization. He's a kid playing a tough position on a teasm that's trying to find itself and this is not good for his development."
