Torts: Shanny should have a field day

Mike Sauer was smashed from behind into the boards by Zac Rinaldo in the first period. And Tom Sestito laid a ugly hit from behind on Andre Deveaux.

Sauer has a sprained right shoulder. Sestito will be suspended.

Sestito came hellbent into the offensive zone to nail unsuspecting Deveaux.
“I don’t consider myself a dirty player but I finish my checks,” Sestito said. “Hopefully, it wasn’t that bad … We were in on the forecheck and I was just trying to get there as fast as I could.”
Said Rangers coach John Tortorella: "Shanny should have a field day," referring to Brendan Shanahan, the NHL's new chief disciplinarian, who handed out an eight game suspension to James Winsniewski yesterday. "What did Jody (Shelley) get? 10 (games)? This one was worse."

Shelley’s hit was on Toronto’s Darryl Boyce last week. Sestito was whistled for a five-minute major for boarding, five minutes for fighting with Stu Bickel, and a game misconduct.
