V-Day: Lying low and not buying high

The lovely wife has a rehearsal tonight, so our v-day dinner has been pushed forward until tomorrow.

I'll be pining in front of the fire alone tonight, filing expenses and listening to tunes. Could be worse. I've got the Bill Evans Trio 's "Waltz for Debby" on tap, with these stacked up:  B.B. King's "Live at The Regal", The Innocence Mission, Hot Tuna's debut,  Roy Buchanan, Savoy Brown....

Rangers resume practicing tomorrow and it'll be a busy weekend, with back to backs at home against LA on Thursday and the Devils in Newark Friday, and then back home to host the Flyers on Sunday at 12:30.

We'll know more about Wojtek Wolksi's pulled rib muscle tomorrow, and in case you didn't see it on line or in the paper, while I was in the locker room gathering quotes last night, Newsday's Arthur Staple snagged Glen Sather in the corridor for a few minutes.

The GM reiterated what we've been hearing and writing from insiders here and thru the league: That the Rangers are kicking tires (presumably on defensemen), but absolutely refuse to overpay with top youngsters. The club's second, second-round draft pick (in what experts are saying is an average draft) and lower-level prospects could be in play.

No one's mentioning Brad Richards, who apparently suffered an undisclosed injury on a hit vs Columbus Sunday and isn't playing tomorrow; that would, of course, be tampering.  But he's free July 1 anyway...
