Some Rangers have hit the ice for informal workouts in Westchester this week, according to Jim Cerny, who covers the club for the team's website, including Marty Biron, Artem Anisimov, Brad Richards, Sean Avery and Mats Zuccarello. I intend to check in there soon and pass along some observations and quotes.

The Record’s Tom Gulitti, who covers the Devils, has successfully helped spread the word on this story for months. Regretfully, I’m late chiming in. But here goes...

I don't know Jake Wisniewski, a freelancer on MSG’s Devils telecasts, but his friends, who admire him greatly, asked me to pass this along. They are hosting a fund-raiser for the 24-year-old, who has battled cystic fibrosis since childhood and received a life-saving double-lung transplant on June 25,  to help defray the enormous medical costs.

It’s on Sept. 6 at Local, over on West 33rd St. near 8th Avenue, across from the Garden.

Brian Leetch and Ken Daneyko, plus other former and current Rangers, Devils and Islanders are expected to attend. There’s a three-hour (7 to 10 p.m.) open beer bar, appetizers, a memorabilia raffle and a silent auction. The tab: $50 per person, and all proceeds go directly to the fund. If you can’t make it, donations are being accepted at
