Zuccarello down, Newbury up, more to come?

Mats Zuccarello told the Bergen Record after the 4-2 loss to the Islanders at Nassau Coliseum, "I felt like I improved a lot. It's hard to give me ice time. There's a lot of players."

Zuccarello was speaking on his way down to Connecticut, where he will join the Whale. He did not play much in the game on the Island and did not have much of an impact. The game did show that the Rangers need more help on defense. Sure, they were undisciplined and took a lot of penalties; costly penalties.  But those penalties might not have occurred if the Rangers could have contained the Islanders' good skaters by non-infraction means.

For now, Zuccarello's spot will be taken by Kris Newbury, who will join the team on its western Canada trip this week.
