Rex Ryan's nephew, now cancer-free, gets hockey VIP tour

ST. LOUIS - Jack Ryan, a nephew of Jets coach Rex Ryan and grandson of Buddy Ryan, wanted to be a hockey player, but the teenager's plans were detoured by a rare form of cancer. Now he's cancer-free and hopes to be a coach.

"He's a young man who loves hockey," said Blues president and former MSG broadcaster John Davidson, who said Jack has been receiving treatment at a hospital here. On Friday, he was given a VIP tour of Scottrade Center by Blues executive Doug Armstrong, arranged by the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

"He watched practice; he got to ask questions of the coaches and the team in the locker room," Davidson said. "He's a big kid and wanted to be a hockey player, but he missed a full year because of radiation treatments and chemo. Now he's cancer-free and wants to get into coaching."
