The Hofstra men's basketball team's season might not be over. Although Hofstra does not expect an NIT bid, the Pride (19-14) has been practicing in hopes of being selected by either the College Basketball Invitational (CBI) or collegeInsider.com (CIT). Indications are that Hofstra would play a home game Tuesday or Wednesday.
Seventh-place Hofstra was eliminated by second-place Northeastern in double overtime in the quarterfinals of the Colonial Athletic Association Tournament. Entering that game, the Pride had won 10 of its previous 11 games.
Stony Brook, which qualified for the NIT by winning the America East Conference regular-season title, will learn its opponent Sunday.
Stony Brook, eliminated by Boston University in the semifinals of the conference tournament, is not likely to receive a home game in the NIT.
