LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Trainer Bob Baffert has been chasing his fourth Kentucky Derby win for 11 years, and he won't get it Saturday. He ruled out Govenor Charlie and Code West on Monday, leaving him without a starter for the first time since 2008. Baffert previously withdrew Super Ninety Nine, Den's Legacy and Flashback.

"It's tough to miss the Derby," Baffert said, "but if I don't think I can run 1-2-3, I don't want to run. I know some long shots have won, but I just didn't feel it. You have to feel it."

Todd Pletcher won't be saddling a record six runners. Pletcher said Lexington Stakes winner Winning Cause will skip the Derby after he worked 4 furlongs Monday morning at Churchill Downs. Winning Cause is 3-for-3 on Keeneland's Polytrack but 0-for-2 on dirt.

Tiz a Minister will not ship from California for the Derby. Owner Stephen Young said the colt had "a sore foot."

Gary Stevens worked Oxbow in a bullet 59 4/5 seconds, the fastest among 34 works at five furlongs at Churchill Downs.

The Derby field stands at the maximum 20 after Monday's announcement that Fear the Kitten will be entered at Wednesday's 5 p.m. post-position draw. Fear the Kitten, trained by Mike Maker, finished fifth in the Blue Grass Stakes and has lost five in a row.
