Steve Matthews’ Aqueduct selections for Sunday, Feb. 4

FIRST: Problem Solving tallied solid final fraction when second in debut; half-mile bullet in the interim seals the deal. Lady Subee has finished second in both starts; continues trend? Shanghai Glory debuts for streaking Michelle Nevin barn; follow the money.

SECOND: Dig That Mine was a front-running winner in last and projects as the main speed once again. Big Thicket notched swift late-pace and final figures when breaking maiden last time; very dangerous. Rockin Jo is fleet-footed and training with a purpose; must consider.

THIRD: Hokulea exits fast-figured placing in last and fired 5-furlong drill in the interim; more to give. Mr. President also was a very strong second in last start; big-time threat. Lutheran Rags was less than a length behind “President” when third on Jan. 18; must be factored into the mix.

FOURTH: Nut Nut was done in by front-end pressure last time but should capitalize on softer flow in this pace dynamic. Toohottoevenspeak was a strong second in last and could be in garden spot if top selection hits the wall in the stretch. Delta Outlaw is quick from gate and could prove to be a very tough customer if able to shake clear from Nut Nut.

FIFTH: Tiz Anna Rae made forward move on the numbers last time and should continue her 3-year-old development. Lune Lake compiled tight work tab for first start since losing head bob for win (subsequently dq’d to seventh) on Dec. 17; dangerous. Simona was a pole clear of third finisher when second to a repeat winner in last start; right in the thick of this.

SIXTH: Pretentious compiled eye-catching work slate for first start since April; ready to deliver “A” game. Special Story needed last and owns fast back numbers; dangerous. Dynamax Prime has been idle for six months but packs power kick on best efforts; don’t ignore.

SEVENTH: Dublinthepleasure logged sizzling late-pace figure when a hard-charging second at the distance last time; more to come. Guick wheels back in a hurry after fast-figured, front-running win last week; very playable. Blewitt earned very fast final numbers in both starts; if underlays are your game.

EIGHTH: Flash Trading consistently tallies swift late-pace numbers and shows solid half-mile workout since last start. Gift Box finished second in last three starts; runner-up again? Carradine has been on the bench since April but hails from Linda Rice barn and is 1-for-1 at the Big A; mixed message.

`NINTH: Gun for Hire took backward step in last start after fast-figured second two races back; rebounds. Ransom Note also bounced in last outing and now makes peak start of form cycle; very interesting. Casigordo is rested and makes first start since said by David Jacobson; dangerous. Javelin owns field’s fastest final figures and is firing bullets for first start since October; can easily romp if all is well.
