Steve Matthews’ Aqueduct selections for Friday, March 23

Best Bet: TRINNI NINJA (6); Best Value: MIGHTY ZEALOUS (8)

FIRST: Dean’s Ticket is riding a forward line on the numbers and owns faster back figures. Doinwhatshelikes has worked four times since game placing at this level last out; logical. Wisdom of Oz is speedy and fresh; price will be tempting.

SECOND: May Be a Diamond fired two, crisp half-mile drills since strong second in last; more to come. Tale of Mist makes peak start of form cycle after finishing just length behind top selection on Feb. 25; easily could close the gap. More Front owns fast numbers and hails from Chad Brown barn; likely underlay.

THIRD: Tiz Surprised owns stalker’s style and is favorably posted outside in contentious field. Right On is fleet-footed and could prove very tough on an unchallenged lead. Dream Fever drops after failing to beat a runner in last two starts; damaged goods?

FOURTH: Sugar Curl made menacing middle move and faded late in debut at Laurel; tighter with race under belt. Gia Michael has finished second in last three starts; similar outcome today? Blissful Breeze should pack amplified kick with cutback to sprint; very dangerous.

FIFTH: Belleville Spring regressed in last start after fast-figured victory in previous race; rebounds. Morning Breez was a solid second in NY-bred stake last out; big-time player. Vicar’s Legend runs late and could be in the garden spot if fractions get hot and hectic.

SIXTH: Trinni Ninja returns to maiden ranks after tackling stakes fields in last two; 5-furlong bullet on March 11 seals the deal. Cartwheel is speedy and could be freewheeling on the lead in big field; very playable. Sundance Joy also is fleet-footed and should be aided by return to sprint; don’t ignore.

SEVENTH: My Roxy Girl owns fast late-pace figures and could be ideally positioned in field with ample speed. Letmetakethiscall has trained sharply since top-figured, front-end score when 4-1 in debut; much shorter price this time. Velvet Trinni is quick from the gate and could offer generous odds; very interesting.

EIGHTH: Mighty Zealous was pace and trip compromised last time and should offer generous price in wide-open group. Can You Diggit owns fast figures but repeatedly has failed at short odds; you’ve been warned. Nobody Move owns swift final fractions and could be the prime beneficiary if pace meltdown ensues.

NINTH: Megalopsychia is riding an improving line on the numbers and makes third start of form cycle; primed for best. Jurere was a front-end second when favored in debut; short ticket once again. Netti’s Legacy took backward step in last after much-improved third in previous start; bounce-back threat. Little Nanny is lightly raced and developing; price will be tempting. Formal Event has finished second in last two starts; must be factored into the mix.
