Steve Matthews' Aqueduct selections for Sunday, Dec. 16

Best Bet: SEMAYA (9); Best Value: BLINDWILLIE McTELL (8)

FIRST: Hurricane Sheila makes third start of form cycle after chasing fast fractions and fading last out; 3-furlong bullet on Dec. 1 seals the deal. Dreamers and Me owns two seconds and a third from three starts; be no surprise. Communal is speedy and adds blinkers; don't ignore.

SECOND: Monteleone tallied improved pace figure in first start since four-month layoff last time; more to give. Magnetron should pack intensified kick with cutback to 6 furlongs; dangerous. Lem Me Tel Ya owns fast numbers on best efforts; must consider.

THIRD: Pretentious is riding a forward line on late-pace and final figures and was second to a repeat winner in last. Potomac is fresh and owns fast numbers on "A" efforts. Special Story was second to a much-the-best winner in last; right in the thick of this.

FOURTH: Show Prince should pack amplified kick with cutback to sprint and logged three tight works since last start; sitting on breakthrough. Hushion is speedy, rested and gets Lasix; big-time, front-end threat. London House has trained sharply since failing to deliver in well-bet debut in August; must consider.

FIFTH: Tied Up projects as the quickest of the quick in speed-laden field. Moment of Triumph turns back to 6 furlongs and could be ideally positioned in the stalker's seat. Esther the Queen is fresh and could be in the garden spot if pace meltdown ensues.

SIXTH: Transistor was victimized by front-end pressure when third in last; better setup on Sunday. Expert tallied swift internal and final numbers when a six-length winner in last; very playable. One River Place makes first start since claimed by Kelly Breen (30 percent); must be factored into the mix.

SEVENTH: Gypsum Johnny needed last, drops and should be ideally positioned near the front in big field. Blame the Thief has won three of last four starts; easily could take another. Gambler's Fallacy owns fast late-pace figures and looms a serious, late-running threat.

EIGHTH: Blindwillie McTell endured tough trip when a fast-figured second in key-race debut; more to give. Kosciuszko was done in by pace pressure last time; very dangerous on an unchallenged lead. Kadens Courage broke maiden by an expanding 11 lengths last time; right in the thick of this.

NINTH: Semaya wheels back in a hurry and drops after failing to impact in debut versus tougher just eight days ago; improvement predicted. It's a Lovely Day was second when 75 cents on the dollar last time; underlay once again. Devil's Flair is riding an improving line on pace and final numbers; very playable. Gypsy Mama makes first start with maiden-claiming tag; wake-up potential.
