Steve Matthews' Aqueduct selections for Sunday, Dec. 30

Best bet: SUMMER PUNCH (6)

Best value: WENT WITH THE WIND (5)

FIRST: Abraxan is riding a forward line on pace and final figures; soft spot. Stonesintheroad compiled a bullet-riddled work tab for debut; could be the goods. Alphardini, another newcomer, ships in for top-shelf, Philly-based barn; stay tuned to the tote.

SECOND: Haul Anchor makes first start since claimed by Rudy Rodriguez; tight, recent work tab seals the deal. Zap Zap Zap consistently logs fast figures; logical, short-priced player. Borsa Vento drops and owns swift back numbers; don't ignore.

THIRD: Pier Forty was a clear-cut second behind an 11-length winner in last and logged crisp, half-mile work in the interim. Woodbury owns two seconds and two thirds from four starts; be no surprise. Klickitat is training sharply for first start in 45 days; right in the thick of this.

FOURTH: Lazarus Project tallied improved internal numbers in last; primed for breakthrough. Poshsky could impact if pace meltdown ensues; price will be tempting. Doyouknowsomething regressed in last after fast-figured placing in prior; rebound threat.

FIFTH: Went With the Wind makes peak start of form cycle and should pack amplified kick with cutback to abbreviated sprint. Malibu Mischief is speedy and makes quick return (eight days); very interesting. Honey I'm Good also is fleet-footed and compiled eye-catching work tab for first start in seven weeks; must be factored into the mix.

SIXTH: Summer Punch gets confident price hike after convincing win in last; pairs up. Proportionality is quick from the gate and gets favorable cutback in distance. Athwaaq has logged fast figures in both starts; logical, short-priced player.

SEVENTH: Out of Orbit is fleet-footed and projects as the main speed in a field that's light on front-runners. Unbridledadventure is 4-for-4 at the distance and has won four of last six starts; very dangerous. Frostie Anne was compromised by poor start when a game second in last; big-time player.

EIGHTH: Hot Mesa owns fast late-pace figures and lands in soft bunch; weakness of field is selection's strength. Back of the Watch notched improved internal numbers in last; dangerous. Hot Sriracha makes first start since gelded and first outing since claimed by Jeremiah Englehart; worth long look. Ridolfo logged three tight works since last start; don't ignore.
