Best bet: NEVER EXPLAIN (8)
Best value: KHAFRE (4)
FIRST: Caumsett is speedy, fresh and training with a purpose; soft spot in weak opener. Saratoga Gaze was a willing second in debut; be no surprise. Escapewithfriends would be aided by fast fractions; don't ignore.
SECOND: Hangar One could be ideally positioned in the stalker's seat. Black Irish is training consistently for first start since April; dangerous. Great Workout drops and makes third start of form cycle.
THIRD: Tass projects as the controlling front-runner on tight-turned turf course. War Canoe owns three wins and a second from six starts on Big A sod; big-time player. Kreesie owns positional speed and fast numbers on "A" efforts.
FOURTH: Khafre is working sharply for first start since January; addition of Lasix seals the deal. Core Conviction, another that's been idle since January, also is training strongly; very dangerous. Rock Sugar returns to dirt and outworked 49 rivals in half-mile drill last week; right in the thick of this.
FIFTH: Microscope fired 5-furlong bullet since non-stressful fifth in last; forward move predicted. Graded On a Curve is 1-for-1 on Big A turf; logical contender. Ghost Giant has drilled three times since last start; very interesting.
SIXTH: Nay Say has worked consistently since third in key-race debut at Saratoga; breakthrough expected. Dance for Gold displayed out-of-the-blue speed in last; worth long look. Vaccine of Hope defeated top pick by nearly a length in Sept. 3 debut; must be factored into the mix.
SEVENTH: Charlie Five O makes first start since claimed after fast-figured win in last; pairs up. Repo Rocks should move forward with return to dirt; dangerous. Rocco Strong should pack amplified wallop with cutback to 6 furlongs; don't dismiss.
EIGHTH: Never Explain owns fast late-pace figures and is working strongly for first start in eight weeks; ready to roll. Ranger Fox owns sprinter's speed and could prove very tough on a soft lead. Space Launch is rested and owns tractable running style; very interesting.
NINTH: Salino, a front-end winner in last, gets top call if able to escape AE list. Zerenia logs field's fastest final fractions on best efforts. Now Yus Cant Leave was a determined maiden winner in last; very playable. Perhaps Tonight drops to lifetime low; must consider. Kemba is fleet-footed and gets class relief; can't ignore.
