Steve Matthews' Belmont selections for Friday, Oct. 5

Best Bet: DOMAIN (6); Best Value: OUTRAGEOUS BET (8)

FIRST: Roman Approval projects as the main speed on surface that has accounted for four of nine lifetime wins. Ekhtibaar returns to turf for Chad Brown; very dangerous. Wake Forest drops and owns fast back figures; must consider.

SECOND: Retro Street cuts back to sprint and returns to dirt; call in weak field. No Limit Babe is speedy and needed last; dangerous. Bizness Beauty runs late and will be the prime beneficiary if pace meltdown ensues.

THIRD: Stolen Pistol has drilled three drilled three times since hard-charging win in last; more to come. Dowse's Beach gets confident two-level price boost after front-running score in most recent; easily could take another. Toughest 'Ombre owns fast late-pace figures on best efforts; worth long look.

FOURTH: Orchid Party is quick from the gate and could secure the stalker's seat in contentious group. Aggregator regressed in last after game third in previous start; rebound threat. Elizabeth Nicole also too

k backward step in most recent after clear-cut victory two races back; must be considered.

FIFTH: Eighty Seven North gets added ground after useful seventh in debut; forward move predicted. Love and Love stopped abruptly in off-the-turf event last time; big-time player with return to grass. Shak's Hidden Gem displayed improved speed when a sharp third in last; very playable.

SIXTH: Domain is fresh, training with a purpose and notched best numbers on Belmont loam at spring/summer meeting. Allured gets added ground after late-running third last time; logical, short-priced threat. Illudere fired eye-catching 5-furlong bullet since clear-cut second as the favorite last out; right in the thick of this.

SEVENTH: Ides of Arch makes third start of form cycle after improved third in last; more to come. Blame the Thief returns to Belmont turf after front-end victory on Monmouth dirt; price will be tempting. Mango M is speedy and fired half-mile bullet since losing all chance after saddle slipped last time; must be factored into the mix.

EIGHTH: Outrageous Bet bounced last time after fast-figured placing in previous start; 3-furlong bullet last week suggests rebound is looming. Fixed Point exits wire-to-wire maiden score and could play out as the main speed once again. McErin was a top-figured, front-end winner in last; short price is the problem.

NINTH: Gotcha Gabin has trained sharply since tough-trip fourth in last; primed for breakthrough. Barrel of Destiny faded in last after fast-figured fourth two back; worth long look. Missbigtimes is fleet-footed and training with a purpose; very interesting. Crater Rim should pack intensified late wallop with cutback to 7 furlongs; don't ignore.
