Steve Matthews' Belmont selections for Monday, Oct. 8

Best bet: RUMBLE DOLL (10)

Best value: ALY'S ALL OUT (4)

FIRST: Dark Ops has trained swiftly since making first start since nine-month layoff last time; duly tightened. San Juan Diego runs late and could appreciate longer trip; very dangerous. Local Counsel returns to dirt and makes third start of form cycle; very interesting.

SECOND: Keeneasabean was pace- and trip-compromised when fifth in debut; forward move predicted. Seek and Destroy failed as the favorite in last; if chalk is your game. Bramble Bay is riding a forward line on the numbers; don't ignore.

THIRD: Aquaphobia exits fast-figured win at Kentucky Downs last out; handles class jump. Blacktype was a front-end victor in most recent; speedy and very playable. Revved Up was overmatched in Grade 1 Sword Dancer last time; very interesting from the fence.

FOURTH: Aly's All Out is quick from gate and is working with a purpose; pulling weight from field seals the deal. Big Expense has finished second four times in a row; minor spoils again? Zecha is another that has been the runner-up in last two starts; another disappointment?

FIFTH: Madding Crowd made menacing middle move and flattened in debut; more to come. Multi Strategy was victimized by soft pace last time; likely underlay from Chad Brown barn. Here Comes Jackie was a front-end third at 33-1 last time; very tempting.

SIXTH: Belleville Spring drops two price levels after failing to beat a runner in last; coin flip if all is well. Southeast regressed in last after fast-figured fourth in prior; rebound threat. Can'tweallgetalong is more than good enough on best efforts; must consider.

SEVENTH: Sister Sunday is fresh and packs potent late wallop on "A" game. Transaction Tax is speedy and hails from white-hot Gary Contessa stable; very playable. Blame Henny fired 5-furlong bullet since game placing in last; must be factored into the mix.

EIGHTH: Charming Indy projects as the speed of the speed in cheap field. Marriage Fever was a determined, front-end winner in last at Monmouth; razor-sharp and dangerous. Halloween Horror drops for Contessa and owns fast back figures; very interesting.

NINTH: Questionoftheday owns sprinter's speed and looms the dominant front-runner in first grass start. Entirely made quick move to lead at quarter pole when winning Gulfstream Park stake on grass last out; very dangerous. Dragic has worked sharply since facing males in last start; right in the thick of this.

10TH: Rumble Doll awaited return to Belmont Park sod after being claimed by Robert Falcone barn in August; call in contentious nightcap. Broadway Run is fleet-footed and owns two wins and two seconds from four starts; could easily take this. Sister Sophia fired 5-furlong bullet since strong second in last; be no surprise. Orecchiette owns three wins from four starts on Belmont turf; obviously must be considered.
