Steve Matthews' Belmont selections for Saturday, Oct. 20

Best Bet: RO JO (6); Best Value: ALBIE (8)

FIRST: Bobby Man has worked three times since late-running fourth in debut; more to give. Bydawnsearlylight owns speed and could prove very tough on an unchallenged lead. Crack Shot compiled eye-catching work tab for debut; could be the goods.

SECOND: Holiday Disguise was compromised by wide trip in last; call based on price potential. Palladian Bridge is fleet-footed and looms a big-time wire-to-wire threat. Highway Star fired 5-furlong bullet since last start; more than good enough on best.

THIRD: Black Tide made every pole a winning one when 28-1 last time; takes another. Rapt packs potent late kick on best efforts; dangerous. Hoboe has won three of last four starts; right in the thick of this.

FOURTH: Celtic Chaos owns stalker's style in race with an abundance of speed. Gold for the King is fresh and owns fast figures. Syndergaard owns fast back numbers; must consider.

FIFTH: Fifty Five consistently logs fast late-pace figures. La Moneda was freshened for 57 days after winning four in a row; very dangerous. Lovely La La is fleet-footed and must be factored into the mix.

SIXTH: Ro Jo is speedy, training with a purpose and could get early jump in bulky field. Kosciuszko was a game second in lone grass start; very dangerous. Qian B C never fired on dirt last time; return to grass is key.

SEVENTH: Elegant Zip was a two-move third in last; added furlong plays to strength. Sadie Lady gets Lasix after front-running score in debut; big-time player. Short Pour was a clear-cut winner on grass last out; right in the thick of this.

EIGHTH: Albie logged determined win in debut on turf; transfers form to main track. Bankit bounced in last after fast-figured placing in previous start; rebound threat. Dugout has yet to taste defeat in three starts; be no surprise.

NINTH: Hay Field is in career-best form (won f5 of 6) and has trained strongly since most recent victory; more to give.  Tiznow's Smile, another that worked strongly since taking last; is riding a two-race winning streak.  Frostie Annie has won six straight; logical, short-priced player.

TENTH: Hit It Once More fired 6-furlong bullet drill for return to dirt; set for best. Control Group is rested and consistently dleivers strong efforts. Sea Foam was overmatched in Grade 3 Oklahoma Derby last out; right in the thick of this on "A" game.

ELEVENTH: Newport Breeze needed last and is bred to handle switch to sod. Dream Passage packs powerful late kick and should be aided by added ground. Truly Courageous is speedy and could prove very tough on an unchallenged lead. Barrel of Destiny was a determined maiden winner just two weeks ago; don't ignore.
