Steve Matthews' Belmont selections for Friday, Oct. 22

Best bet: SCREAMIN' BY (8)

Best value: OCALA DREAM (9)

FIRST: Someday Maybe drops into maiden claimer and fired crisp half-mile drill on Oct. 8; improvement predicted. Malibu Anthem was an even third in last; dangerous. School of Thought is training with a purpose for first start since August; must consider.

SECOND: Rogue Leader was a useful third in last; added furlong plays to strength. War Novel owns speed and adds blinkers; worth long look. Athenry gets class relief and could move forward in second start since two-month absence.

THIRD: Flauto projects as the main speed with aggressive handling. Single Soul lost a head bob for all the money last time; be no surprise. Second Row Center was a clear-cut winner in lone grass outing; very interesting.

FOURTH: Liveyourbeastlife is fresh and owns fast figures on "A" efforts. Flat Out Beautiful fired half-mile bullet since wide fourth in last; dangerous. Villainous was a determined winner in last; right in the thick of this.

FIFTH: Kenner is riding a forward line on pace and final numbers; half-mile bullet last week seals the deal. Asymmetric was a willing second to a much-the-best-winner in debut; could easily take this. Catching Cupid is training swiftly for debut; could be the goods.

SIXTH: Princess Fawzia is riding a two-race winning streak; more to give. Tiple, a non-stressful fifth in last, owns two wins on Belmont sod. Clara Peeters has finished third as the favorite in last two starts; more show dough at short price?

SEVENTH: Handbelle has trained strongly since late-running third in key-race debut; more in the tank. Saffron Moon has drilled three times since losing rider in last; very interesting. Make a Wish makes first start for Todd Pletcher; charting a must.

EIGHTH: Screamin' By should pack intensified late wallop with cutback to 6 furlongs. O'Gotten Girl, a front-running maiden winner in last, could play out as the controlling speed once again. Harper's in Charge is speedy and is effective from stalker's perch, as well; don't dismiss.

NINTH: Ocala Dream overcame soft fractions and wide move when a determined winner in last; pairs up. Wolfie's Dynaghost drops and owns positional speed; worth long look. Arzak has worked three times since non-stressful fourth in last; improvement anticipated.

10TH: Gimmedamoney was a change-of-pace third in last; breakthrough predicted. Hot Rod Rumble carved the fractions when a clear-cut second in last; big-time player. Always Charming compiled swift workout tab for debut; could be a runner. Bali's Shade has trained strongly since game placing in debut this past May; right in the thick of this.
