Steve Matthews' Saratoga selections for Sunday, Sept. 1

Best Bet: NORTHERN HAZE (3); Best Value: HONEY I'M GOOD (4)

FIRST: Summer Sangria was a front-running second in debut; tighter on Sunday. More Thunder moves to grass after even third in debut; dangerous. Chimney Rock should be aided by cutback to sprint; must consider.

SECOND: Summer Fantasy compiled tight work tab for first start in seven weeks; primed. Elegant Rose is speedy and drops; big-time player. Margie Music could move forward with switch to dirt; don't ignore.

THIRD: Northern Haze tallied solid final fraction when breaking maiden last out; pairs up. Ari's Naughty Luca is quick from gate and could prove very tough on a soft lead. Raphael needed last and drops; worth long look.

FOURTH: Honey I'm Good projects as the controlling front-runner in grass debut. Factoring is fresh and owns fast back figures; very interesting. Restructure was a clear-cut winner in lone turf outing; very playable.

FIFTH: Bayern's Magic gets the meds after improved effort in last; two crisp works in the interim seal the deal. Vaya Con Dios bested top selection by more than five lengths when second on Aug. 1; very dangerous. Bobbyfromthepalm debuts for Rudy Rodriguez; stay tuned to the tote.

SIXTH: Carrier Landing ships in from Kentucky and is riding a forward line on the numbers; handles the locals at this level. Bears Mafia makes first start for Tom Amoss after fast-figured maiden score in last; big-time threat. Woodbury is training with a purpose for first start since February; must be factored into the mix.

SEVENTH: Wicked Amber made sustained rally when third in last and rates call at juicy price if able to escape AE list. Sparkling Sky was a tough-trip third in debut; logical. Boxer Rebellion debuts for Chad Brown; need more?

EIGHTH: Buxom Beast has trained sharply since making debut in Schuylerville on opening day; drop in with maidens is the clincher. Slam Dunk was a useful fifth when favored in first start; improvement predicted. Orsay, a daughter of American Pharoah, was bought for $1.2 million as a yearling; got money to burn?

NINTH: Here Comes Jackie was a fast-figured second in last at Monmouth; good spot for local debut. Connectivity crushed five rivals when winning first outing on Spa sod;  easily could take another. Dance Till Dawn is fleet-footed and could prove very tough to collar on an unchallenged lead.

TENTH: Cathy Naz was done in by bad start when fourth last time; amplified kick with cutback to 6 furlongs. Smokin Deb is rested and could play out as the speed of the speed. Untaken was a strong second in lone start at Saratoga; price will be tempting.

ELEVENTH: Mundaye Call projects as the main speed on the fence in wide-open Spinaway Stakes. Shippy has tallied fast figures in both starts; big-time player. Perfect Alibi owns a favorably stalker's style; right in the thick of this.

TWELFTH: Opt consistently logs the field's fastest late-pace figures. Scrutinize is riding a forward line on the numbers; very interesting. Risky Sour exits rapid-figured placing in last; dangerous. Honorable Hero's speed gives him a puncher's chance in bulky nightcap.
