Best bet: CHILLY BON BON (7)
Best value: BAR NONE (5)
FIRST: Vip Nation was an improved third in last start and gets an additional quarter-mile to work with today. Anne’s Song makes first start with maiden-claiming tag; developing and dangerous. Broadway Girl has been compromised by bad starts in both outings; don’t ignore.
SECOND: Indian Ghost makes first start since moving to Danny Gargan barn and first outing in maiden claiming ranks. Threefortyfive has trained with a purpose since speed and fade in debut; big-time, front-end threat. Buss the Bell was a fast-figured fifth three starts back; very interesting.
THIRD: My Won Love moves to Rudy Rodriguez stable after even third in last; forward move predicted. Awesome News bested top selection by more than three lengths when a front-running winner Jan. 15; very dangerous. Leah’s Dream is riding a two-race winning streak; right in the thick of this.
FOURTH: Bad Guy is rested and makes first start since gelded; career-best on tap. It’s Hot Out has finished second at short odds in last three starts; why would things be different today? Phantomofthefrost is training swiftly for debut; could be the goods.
FIFTH: Bar None should find already strong late kick amplified with cutback to 7 furlongs; call based on price potential. Bluegrass Prevails owns speed and fast figures but is 0-for-3 at the distance; vulnerable favorite? Risk Management needed last and drops; don’t dismiss.
SIXTH: Right On owns speed and looms the swiftest of the swift with aggressive ride. My Roxy Girl bounced in last start after fast-figured win in prior; rebound threat. Paranoia gets class relief and could be ideally positioned in the stalker’s seat.
SEVENTH: Chilly Bon Bon makes third start of form cycle after notching improved internal numbers in last; primed for breakthrough effort. Charming Indy fires strong efforts with machine-like consistency; big-time player. Blugrascat’s Smile was just a length behind top selection after wide trip Jan. 18; must be factored into the mix.
EIGHTH: Status Asthmaticus owns speed, is lightly raced and drops; sitting on forward move in wide-open nightcap. Go Kelly Go has hit the board in all five starts but has failed to get the job done at short odds; likely underlay. Secret Mission (tight work tab from Todd Pletcher barn) and Devil Buster (quick drills for top-shelf Maryland stable) are newcomers that must be considered if the money shows.
