Steve Matthews’ Aqueduct selections for Friday, Jan. 29

Best Bet: SUMMIT MOON (4)

Best Value: FROYO STAR (6)

FIRST: Doinwhatshelikes makes first start since claimed by Jason Servis; light work tab is caution flag, however. Amulay is a front-end threat on best efforts. Littlemissperfect takes significant price plunge; more than good enough if all is well.

SECOND: Rock Garden makes first start with maiden-claiming tag and owns fast back figures; rates close call. Wiredancer could be ideally positioned in the stalker’s seat. Marakovits is speedy but has lost ground in the stretch in all four starts; you’ve been warned.

THIRD: Indycott packs potent late kick and has the benefit of the rail; rates call based on price. Stormin Monarcho owns speed and gets class relief; dangerous. Our Caravan has trained sharply since winning last start; must consider.

FOURTH: Summit Moon was pace and position compromised when second to a tons-the-best winner in last; set for breakthrough. Ex Ex Ex is fast, fast, fast and will prove very tough on a soft lead. Fleet First should improve in second start since seven-month layoff.

FIFTH: Monty Haul is rested, makes first start for Steve Klesaris and consistently logs swift numbers. Storm Pursuit was a fast-figured, front-end winner in last; very dangerous. Eskendulce is 3-for-3 on the inner track; right in the thick of this.

SIXTH: Froyo Star logged three tight works since tough-trip third in last; more to give.Que Chulo bested top selection by more than a length when a front-end second in last; developing and dangerous. Fine Instincts was fourth in same last race as top pair; logical, short-priced player.

SEVENTH: Rare Eagle is rested and packs potent late kick on best efforts; call based on price potential. Brimstone regressed in last after fast-figured win in prior; bounce-back threat with first-time Lasix. Tasunke Witco ships in for Tony Dutrow; dangerous.

EIGHTH: His Girl Friday was victimized by wide trip in last after clear-cut score two starts back; rebounds. Majestic Bloom can pose a serious front-end threat on ‘A’ game; very playable. Unrepented failed to fire last time but is right in the thick of this on best efforts.

NINTH: Down Town KItty was a solid third at 30-1 in debut and should have more to give at juicy ticket in wide-open nightcap. Bustin the Bank turns back to sprint and could be in the garden spot if pace meltdown ensues. El Genio is speedy, rested and fired half-mile bullet last week; very interesting. Spark to Ignite also is fleet-footed and makes third start since four-month layoff; don’t ignore.
