Steve Matthews’ Aqueduct selections for Saturday, Feb. 18

Best Bet: COURT DANCER (8)

FIRST: Formal Summation wheels back in a hurry after front-running score this past Sunday; more to come. Possilicious owns speed, fast back numbers and drops; dangerous. Jeter looms the prime beneficiary if pace meltdown ensues.

SECOND: Cornedbeefandcabbage makes third start of form cycle after improved third in last; primed for breakthrough effort. Tradfest is training with a purpose for first start since July for potent layoff barn (Linda Rice); very dangerous. Abolitionist owns speed and makes first outing since claimed by Rudy Rodriguez; right in the thick of this.

THIRD: Love You Babe failed to handle a sloppy strip last time but tallied improved number two starts back; rebounds at a price today. Splash of Sass was a breakthrough winner when making first two-turn start last time; very interesting. Fire Key was a game second in last; bounces at short ticket today?

FOURTH: Horoscope gets favorable cutback to sprint after front-end second at mile last time. Exclusive Zip was narrowly defeated by a next-out winner when third in debut; very playable. Long Haul Bay debuts for Chad Brown after firing bullet drills in preparation; follow the money.

FIFTH: Chunnel was pace and position compromised when a better-than-it-looks fourth in last; call based on price. Put It Forward gets confident price hike in first start since claimed by Rodriguez; very dangerous. Our Caravan bested top selection by more than seven lengths when a winner on Jan. 12; easily could take this.

SIXTH: Playthatfunnymusic notched swift late-pace figure when a tough-trip second in last; rates narrow call. Spectrolite was a fast-numbered, front-running maiden winner in last; could certainly be the play if price is right. Lucky Town never got into the hunt when making first start since more than two-month absence last out; improvement expected.

SEVENTH: Pop the Hood tallied rapid internal and final numbers when a 4-length winner in last; pairs up. We Did lacks speed but could be in the garden spot if top selection hits the wall in the stretch; worth long look. Eye Luv Lulu owns swift numbers on “A” efforts and is training with a purpose for first start in 77 days; must consider.

EIGHTH: Court Dancer is fresh and could play out as the quickest of the quick in field that’s top-heavy with speed. She’s All Ready runs late and looms the prime beneficiary if pace meltdown ensues. Hot City Girl is fleet-footed and has never been off the board in three starts on the inner track; must be factored into the mix.

NINTH: Appealing Henry was compromised by poor start when second to a much-the-best winner in last; could offer best value of the contenders in wide-open nightcap. Bodie Ramsey compiled tight work tab for first start since debut versus tougher this past August at Saratoga; dangerous. Cespedes is riding a forward line on pace and final figures; big-time player. Morning Daddy makes third start since five-month layoff; improvement predicted.
