Steve Matthews’ Aqueduct selections for Saturday, March 12

Best Value: TUG OF WAR (7)

FIRST: The Silver Sniper could play out as the swiftest of the swift in first start since gelded. No Entiendo could be sitting in the garden spot if pace meltdown ensues. The Great Whiteway is riding a two-race winning streak; right in the thick of this.

SECOND: Non Stop earned improved internal numbers when a clear-cut second in last; rates close call. War Academy owns fast back figures and makes first start since claimed by Rudy Rodriguez; very dangerous. Visionary Ruler is a hot commodity at the claim box and is more than good enough on ‘A’ game.

THIRD: Hectors Pride makes quick return after front-end score last week; pairs up. Hey Bro was a willing second in last; big-time player. Power Nap regressed in last after fast-figured win in prior; bounce-back threat.

FOURTH: Master Magician tallied solid final fraction versus arguably tougher in last at GP; rail draw seals the deal. Big Gillette is speedy and will prove very tough on a soft lead. Dixie Runner delivered strong efforts in two starts in South Florida; could easily take this.

FIFTH: Second City gets confident price hike after clear-cut victory in last; more to give. Send It In is 2-for-2 on inner strip and has won four of last five starts; very dangerous. Lieutenant Seany O was victimized by tough post in last but packs potent late kick ion best efforts. Farhaan owns two wins from four starts on winterized oval; don’t dismiss.

SIXTH: Brooklyn Major projects as the controlling speed if able to draw in from AE list. Jet Black could play out as the swiftest of the swift if top selection is scratched. New York’s Zip is training with a purpose for first start since gelded; worth long look at long price.

SEVENTH: Tug of War overcame slow pace and wide trip when a determined winner in last; call based on price. Pin and Win cruised to easy, front-running score last time for streaking Michelle Nevin barn; very playable. Nevada Kid is riding a forward line on the numbers and should be aided by today’s added ground.

EIGHTH: Salutos Amigos is 3-for-3 on inner strip and could receive ideal, front-end setup in contentious Tom Fool Handicap. Dads Caps chased scorching fractions and faded in Toboggan last time; tighter in second start since six-month absence. Mewannarose took backward step in last after fast-figured second in Toboggan two starts back; rebound potential.

NINTH: Castaway gets class relief after fast- paced and final-figured fourth last out; call in wide-open nightcap. March Too has finished second in last four starts; continues trend? Gentrify bounced in last after swift-numbered win in prior; dangerous. Regulus makes first start since reclaimed by Rudy Rodriguez; more than good enough on best.
