Steve Matthews’ Saratoga selections for Thursday, Aug. 11

Best bet: ODE TO THE HUNT (8)

Best value: YOUNG ANNA LEE (9)

FIRST: Barbara’s Smile was a clear-cut winner over the Parx jumps last out; pairs up. Willow U is speedy and can capitalize on unchallenged lead. Get Ready Set Goes has hit the board in all five starts.

SECOND: Egyptian Rose was a front-end maiden winner in last and fired swift half-mile work on July 21; more to give. Lady Chocolotta is fresh and owns speed and fast figures on best efforts. Megan’s Muse compiled tight work tab for first start in 57 days; dangerous.

THIRD: Caribou Club has trained swiftly since game second in key-race debut. Bracket Creep debuts for Chad Brown; could be the goods. Berks County fired swift 5-furlong drill last week; follow the money.

FOURTH: Banner Bill drops and owns fast numbers; call in tricky race. A.P. Cino could be in the garden spot if pace meltdown ensues. Sinistra owns a win and a second in three starts at Saratoga; must consider.

FIFTH: Madison Blues is fleet-footed and could enjoy soft lead in big field. Munchkin Money is training strongly for first start in seven weeks; very dangerous. Satin Frost makes third start since seven-month layoff; worth long look at long price.

SIXTH: La Inesperada gets class relief and could be ideally positioned in the stalker’s seat. Just Got Out also drops and packs potent late kick on best efforts. Dark Rain could prove very tough on an uncontested lead.

SEVENTH: Cats Landing is riding a forward line on the numbers and logged five tight works since last start; rates close call. Southern Gentleman is rested and could get the early jump in weak maiden dash. A Trip to Lourdes makes quick return, sheds blinkers and should move forward with race under belt.

EIGHTH: Ode to the Hunt makes peak start of form cycle after finishing second to a much-the-best winner in last; set for breakthrough. Call Provision exits Grade I stakes and logged fast figures in all three starts; very dangerous. Fulmer is training with a purpose for first start since June; right in the thick of this.

NINTH: Young Anna Lee moves to grass after fast-figured, front-end win in last; more to come. Highway Star has logged impressive scores in both dirt starts; big-time player. Little Bear Cat consistently delivers strong efforts; must be factored into the mix. Lady Lucky is riding a forward line on the numbers; price will be tempting.

10TH: Light the Night owns fast late-pace figures and is training strongly for first start in nearly 10 months. Consumerconfidence was a fast-figured second May 22 and has worked sharply in the interim; very dangerous. Seize is fleet-footed and could play out as the dominant front-runner; serious threat. Court Savvy displayed improved speed in last; worth long look at long price.
