Steve Morse's infield single drove in Taylor Bargiacchi in the fifth inning as Dowling beat Queens, 1-0, in college baseball. Junior Gabriel Duran allowed four hits and tied a career high with 14 strikeouts for Dowling (6-5, 0-1 ECC). Queens is 5-8, 0-1.

Central Connecticut State 4, Stony Brook 3: Anthony Scialdone's RBI single in the seventh gave Central Connecticut State (1-5) a 4-2 lead. Robert Dyer went 2-for-3 with a run and RBI for Stony Brook (3-8).

Suffolk CC-Selden 10, Queens CC 0: James Lomangino allowed a hit and struck out 10 in five innings for Suffolk CC (5-0, 4-0 Region XV). Rob Quattrock went 2-for-2 with two homers and four RBIs.

C.W. Post 6, St. Thomas Aquinas 4: Zack Graczyk (4-for-5) hit a two-run homer in the seventh to give C.W. Post a 5-1 lead. Pete Budkevics allowed two earned runs and struck out six in 6 2/3 innings for Post (4-5-1, 2-0 ECC). STAC is 3-11, 0-2.

Briarcliffe 11, Southern Maine CC 1: Tim Coglietta and Reggie Smith each had three hits and two RBIs to lead Briarcliffe (4-4, 1-1 USCAA). Vin Aprano allowed three hits and struck out six in six innings.

SOFTBALLC.W. Post sweeps LeMoyne. Kendall Bright scored on Kristen Morcone's grounder in the seventh to give C.W. Post a 2-1 victory in Game 1. Sarah Kiser had 11 strikeouts. Christie Softy went 3-for-4 with two RBIs to lead the Pioneers (7-3) to a 6-4 win in Game 2.



Merrimack 11, Dowling 10: Mia Basile (four goals, two assists) scored with 7:46 left to give Merrimack (1-0) an 11-8 lead. Cassandra Cronin had three goals and an assist and Brooke Witkowski had a goal and four assists for No. 8 Dowling (2-1).
