Everyone knows the Yankees had, um, mixed emotions about Alex Rodriguez returning to the fold rather than, say, folding his tent and going away for good.
But there is no downside to A-Rod when it comes to YES Network ratings.
That was proven Monday night when his not-so-triumphant return to the big leagues helped YES average 4.34 percent of homes in the New York market for the Yankees-White Sox game, a season high.
The previous best was 4.16 for a May 27 tilt against the Mets.
The figure surely would have been far higher if not for Andy Pettitte making a mess of the first three innings, turning the game into a rout for the White Sox.
YES' rating peaked at 8.22 from 8:30 to 8:45 p.m., around the time of Rodriguez's first at-bat, resulting in a bloop single.
YES' hour-long pregame show averaged a healthy 1.45 rating.
There is no question YES could use the help. Its ratings have been down significantly this season.
