As I wrote Monday, when most people still were calling Christian Lopez a naïve, if well-intentioned, dope: You can’t go wrong doing the right thing, and Mr. Lopez will come out just fine in the end.
Which it now appears he has, given the people and companies tripping over themselves to take care of his financial needs in the wake of returning a certain special baseball to Derek Jeter.
But let’s not discount the value of that initial gift of multiple premium tickets by the Yankees.
Sure, some of those seats would have gone unsold anyway. But SeatGeek calculated that if Lopez had tried to buy those seats on the resale market, he’d have had to spend more than $27,000 on the upcoming 11-game homestand alone.
