Ten years ago today, I covered the Giants in Super Bowl XXXV. They lost. By a lot.
The good news was I was able to write my game story during the fourth quarter instead of watching the fourth quarter.
But I digress . . .
I talked to TNT analyst and former Auburn hoopster Charles Barkley at the Garden Thursday about his experiences before, during and after the BCS Championship Game, which was played near his home in the Phoenix area.
(BTW, when Sir Charles first saw me he said, "Oh, good, I like you. Some of these guys in New York are ----." Umm . . . thank you?)
Here is what he said:
"We celebrated all week [leading up to the game]. We just celebrated the championship one night, and then I was ready for them to go. That was one of the longest weeks of my life.
"They came in on Sunday. We went out Sunday, Monday, Tuesday. On Wednesday I flew to Atlanta to work Thursday. Then Friday, Saturday and Sunday were three of the longest nights of my life, because Auburn people, I made sure they had a good time in my city.
"We were 40,000 strong. But I was ready for them to go."
Now it's time for me to go. Enjoy the Pro Bowl.
