Bettman won't call foul on language

After a carpet F-bomb attack on the TV sets of America last week, Capitals coach Bruce Boudreau was at it again on HBO’s NHL “24/7’’ in Episode Two Wednesday.

Oh, my! Maybe he was just trying to find words that rhyme with puck.

But even before the second show, commissioner Gary Bettman (Cornell Class of ’74) told me he is not overly concerned about the naughty language.

“This is, like our game, the ultimate reality show,’’ he said, after noting that HBO scrubs the show for daytime repeats, as it did with the Jets on “Hard Knocks.’’

“This is real life for a team that’s struggling and I think people are more intrigued about what they’re seeing than worrying about the particulars of the language.’’

NBC’s Bob Costas was impressed that Boudreau had surpassed Rex Ryan’s mark for cursing, “which was thought to be unreachable.’’

“People in other sports may curse as much,’’ Costas said, “but hockey guys will put an F-bomb in the middle of a word.’’
