Blake is slam dunk in L.A.

The presence of rookie dunking savant Blake Griffin of the Clippers in the NBA’s slam dunk contest should add juice to a sometimes somnambulant event.

But that doesn’t mean there will be much intrigue over who will actually win the event.

“I love [Serge] Ibaka,’’ TNT analyst Steve Kerr said. “I think he’s a hell of a player defensively and a great athlete. But he’s got no chance in the dunk contest. Not in L.A. against Blake Griffin.

“This is one of those foregone conclusions. It’s meant to be. Everything is lined up for Blake. Barring a disaster, Griffin is going to run away with this thing.’’

Kerr’s colleague, Reggie Miller, said Griffin will help, but what the contest really needs is superstars such as LeBron James and Dwight Howard to participate. He recalled watching Michael Jordan and Dominique Wilkins battle in Chicago in 1988.

“That’s what fans want to see,’’ Miller said. “They want to see the best players participating in the dunk contest.’’
