As reported here and elsewhere a few weeks back, Levittown's own Brian Kenny - a former Newsday paper boy, naturally - has left ESPN after a long, successful run and joined the MLB Network.
Kenny starts Monday.
“Baseball, with its tradition and history, has always been my passion,” Kenny said in a news release. “I'm so excited to follow baseball all year long and work with the excellent team on MLB Network. I also look forward to helping to bring a level of analysis that baseball fans now demand.”
Kenny did a bunch of stuff at ESPN, including hosting SportsCenter, hosting a radio show and hosting boxing coverage.
Hey, by the way, in case you hadn't heard, most of the Newsday sports content on our website has been reopened to all.
Some of the particulars are a little complicated, but for those in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut who are not Newsday subscribers or who do not get their Internet service through Cablevision everything is available other than columns and blogs.
Most of what I do is columns and blogs. But still, this is a positive development for readers and for we sensitive, ego-driven writer types.
Bottom line: Online or in print, Newsday was, is and always will be your best source for LI news you can use.
