ESPY Awards 2016 recap

The ESPY Awards began with a call to action from LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, Dwyane Wade and Chris Paul and ended with a tribute to Muhammad Ali.

In between, Zaevion Dobson's mother gave a moving speech while accepting the Arthur Ashe Courage Award in his memory. Dobson, a 15-year-old football player, was killed while shileding two girls from gunfire in Tennessee.

Craig Sager delivered a similarly moving speech about his battle with cancer as he accepted the Jimmy V Perserverance Award.

"If we don't have hope and faith, we have nothing," Sager said after Vice President Joe Biden presented the award to him. "Whatever I might have imagined, a terminal diagnosis would do to my spirit, it summoned quite the opposite, the greatest appreciation for life. So I will never get up, and I will never give in. I will keep fighting."
