We recently stumbled upon a box of old media guides here in the Newsday office. And we're talking early 1990s old. So, from time to time, we'll dig into the archive and pull out some little nuggets that humor us from days gone by.
First up, in honor of its 20th anniversary, we start with the cover of the 1991 Yankees Media Guide. Can you name the four Yankees who were illustrated on the cover. That picture above is probably too small, so in the interest of fairness, we embedded the cover below as well.
Some of the names are easy, others not so much. Use the comments to cast your answer. The first winner gets our complete gratitude. The second winner gets less complete gratitude, and so on down the line.
We'll post the correct answers right here on Thursday before Opening Day's first pitch.
UPDATE: MARCH 31, 10 a.m. - The correct answers, from left to right, are: Steve Sax, Don Mattingly, Kevin Maas, Roberto Kelly. Good job to those who played along and got it right. Look for more old-school New York sports nuggets in the days ahead.
