First Babes, then Jets on Thanksgiving

Last year WPIX enraged viewers by ditching its decades-old Thanksgiving Day tradition of showing the bizarrely spooky family film "March of the Wooden Soldiers" (a/k/a "Babes in Toyland") in favor of a day of football-themed programming to set up the Giants-Broncos game that night.

This in turn caused me to spend my Thanksgiving Eve mercilessly hunting down the turkeys at the station who made the decision.

PIX will play it smarter this time, not only showing the movie at 9 a.m. but following it up with an eight-hour marathon of "The Odd Couple," featuring the most beloved fictional sportswriter in history, Oscar Madison.

At 7 p.m. it's the pregame show, including Newsday's own Rod Boone, followed by Bengals-Jets.

That's more like it.
