Fox closes its BCS era

Random thoughts before I spend the rest of the day on newspaper duties:

If the NFL is so concerned that fans paying full price are disappointed by benched starters in Weeks 16 and 17, why is it not concerned about fans paying full price in the preseason?

Fox has cut way back on crowd shots during the baseball playoffs in recent years; apparently, it was saving them up to use throughout the Fiesta Bowl Monday.

Speaking of Fox, the Orange Bowl Tuesday ends the network's association with the BCS bowls, which move entirely to ESPN next year, the emotional finale of a tradition that dates all the way back to 2007.

ESPN is launching a 3D network in June, which apparently involves using additional gizmos and funny glasses.

I'll have to check that out, as soon as I get around to getting a high def TV and checking that out.

That's all, folks.

Enjoy the world junior hockey championships final on the NHL Network Tuesday night, featuring the U.S. vs. Canada, with J.P. Dellacamera and Dave Starman calling the action.
