HBO will premiere a much-anticipated look at famed announcer Marty Glickman late next month, but the film will appear under the HBO Documentary Films banner, not that of its sports division.
Speaking of which, whatever happened to HBO Sports documentaries, which used to reliably produce three or four quality offerings every year? It has been 18 months since its last, about Joe Namath.

Turns out much of the 2012 budget was consumed by a project called “Sport in America’’ set for later this year, but the plan for 2014 and beyond is to get back fully into the documentary game currently being dominated by ESPN.
