The NFL Network said its telecast of Thursday night's Jets-Browns game averaged 5.2 percent of households and 8.6 million viewers, making it the highest-rated and most-watched NFL Network exclusive Thursday night game since December of 2015.
The game, which the Browns won, 21-17, featured the first and third overall picks in last spring's NFL Draft, quarterbacks Baker Mayfield of the Browns and Sam Darnold of the Jets.
The audience peaked at 10.3 million viewers during the game's final six minutes.
The average rating was 43 percent higher than that of all NFL Network exclusives last season.
The figures do not include those who watched the game on local broadcast channel simulcasts in New York (on WNBC) and Cleveland.
