Don't worry, I didn't forget to ask Joe Namath during our conversation Thursday what he thinks of the Jets, whom he sharply criticized after their opening loss to the Ravens.
"We as fans really believed that [Mark] Sanchez had grown a little faster than Jets management or coaches wanted to give him a chance at that first game," he said.
"I think they feared Baltimore's defense and played more to keep from losing as opposed to giving Mark more room.
"But they've improved. The offensive line is the big thing. [Guard] Matt Slauson has improved. They've really grown."
How about early talk of a Giants-Jets Super Bowl?
"That would be wonderful," he said. "We'd even take it somewhere besides that new stadium, huh? We'll take it this year rather than 2014. Wouldn't that be a kicker, the Giants and Jets in the Super Bowl in Dallas, Texas?"
