Last Sunday’s 1 p.m. NFL slate around here featured Marv Albert calling the Bills-Dolphins game on CBS directly opposite his son Kenny on Cowboys-Redskins for Fox.
Pretty cool. But this is better: The elder Albert will be at the play-by-play mike Sunday for the Bills at the Jets, his first time calling one of the New York teams’ games since joining CBS’ NFL roster.
As for the Thanksgiving schedule, this is the best one in years, even with the Dolphins in the late afternoon slot against the Cowboys.
It has been a long time since the Lions played an early afternoon game as anticipated as the one against the Packers Thursday.
Traditionally, the quality of the matchups and games on Thanksgiving has relatively little impact on ratings. The day long has been a bonanza for the networks that televise the games.
