UPDATE: Williams re-signed with the Nets.
Point guard, New Jersey Nets
2011-12 salary: $16.4 million
Unrestricted free agent
Pair Williams with a big man and you immediately have a title contender. He is an excellent facilitator, and has great range; when he catches fire on offense, you can't stop him.

NBA ratings were way up on regional sports networks at the season's midpoint, according to a Sports Business Journal survey.

That is not a surprise given the late-starting, truncated season, and helped by the Jeremy Lin-fueled skyrocketing in Knicks ratings on MSG.

But to me, the most arresting piece of data in the ratings news is a negative one: The Nets extraordinarily awful showing on YES.

According to SBJ they were averaging 0.38 percent of New York area homes as of mid-February. That was one-third as much as the next-worst team in the league, the Wizards.

The Nets' irrelevance in their final year in Newark is startling. Tickets to their games regularly sell for as little as $1 on the secondary market.

They'd be better off playing on a playground in Brooklyn for the rest of this season.
