Game 7 of the Rangers-Capitals series on Wednesday night averaged 9.3 percent of homes in the New York area, making it the highest-rated NHL game ever shown on NBCSN in the nation's largest TV market.

It surpassed the 8.5 rating for Game 6 of last year's Canadiens-Rangers conference final.

It also was better than both NBCSN games during last year's Cup Final between the Kings and Rangers, which averaged 8.1 and 8.0 ratings in New York.

Wednesday's game also set a ratings record for an NBCSN game in Washington, at 7.9.

Nationally, the game averaged a 2.3 rating in major markets, the highest such figure of the 2015 playoffs on any NBC channel.
