Michael Strahan was a much better football player than former University of Miami lineman Dwayne (The Rock) Johnson, but Johnson has a far more advanced acting career.
What does Johnson think of Strahan's potential, having seen him in his low-rated Fox sitcom "Brothers?"
"The thing about Mike is he's got good timing," Johnson said Tuesday during an interview to promote his new film, "Tooth Fairy."
"He has presence. He has great potential and great comedic timing, and comedic timing can't be taught in acting class. He has that. I've enjoyed watching him, and he's great every Sunday on Fox.
"What separates Michael from a lot of guys is his ability to be self-deprecating, which is important if you want to do comedy. You can't worry about looking cool, and there are a lot of athletes who worry about looking cool.
"Cool is the antithesis of funny. It's hard to be cool in a pink tutu [which Johnson wears in his movie]. However, if I make you laugh, that is cool."
Said Strahan: "Trust me, that means a lot coming from him. If there is anybody I'd like to pattern an acting career on, it's Dwayne Johnson."
