One negative of the Jets’ surprising start is that it has put a damper on SNY analyst Ray Lucas’ colorful postgame emoting, which late last season was becoming more entertaining than the games themselves.
But that is not the only reason the postgame show has taken on a different tone this season. With Adam Schein and his, um, distinctive voice having left for CBS Sports Network, SNY has used a rotating group of analysts in his chair.
Starting Sunday, though, the network will gain some consistency by adding Mike Westhoff for all road games.
Westhoff also has been appearing on ESPN New York radio, getting mostly positive reviews, and recently displaying an excellent sense of timing. Let’s just say it was a very good week to be a former Jets special teams coach after the Jets had beaten the Patriots thanks largely to an arcane new special teams rule that you initially proposed to the NFL.
