Howdy, pardners! Sorry for lack of posts recently.
Now that the Giants have restored our honor by putting the Dallas area back in its place, it's safe for me to reveal that this post from my old pal Barry Horn at the Morning News has caused me to receive a steady stream of angry emails from Texans over the past several days.
Gee whiz. Relax, people. I was just having a little fun with your relentlessly bland (until now) franchise.
(How bland? On a Fox conference call yesterday, Joe Buck revealed he never has called a Rangers regular-season game and Tim McCarver said he has not been in the team's home park since the 1995 All-Star Game!)
Whatever. I will be rooting for the Rangers in the World Series, as it is my policy always to support teams playing for championships that have a Cornell alumnus for a general manager. (Jon Daniels, Class of '99.) Even more so when he's from Queens.
Not that I am going to actually see the World Series, thanks to the ongoing Fox vs. Cablevision difficulties.
I started watching baseball in 1969, the first year of the NLCS. That means the Phillies-Giants series was the first NLCS ever played that I did not watch. Sigh.
Enjoy "Glee" tonight. Or not. It'll be on Hulu Wednesday, I assume.
