If you tune into the YES Network or MLB.tv on Friday night looking to catch Aaron Judge’s chase for Roger Maris’ home run record, you won't find it there.
That’s because Friday night’s game between the Yankees and the Red Sox will air exclusively on Apple TV+. But luckily for fans who hope to witness history, the game — like all the service’s “Friday Night Baseball” games this season — will be free to watch.
All you need to watch the game is an Apple ID (you can create an ID here if you don’t have one; if you already have an Apple device such as an iPhone, you most likely have an ID already) and the Apple TV app, which can be found on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV 4K and Apple TV HD, smart TVs, streaming devices, cable set-top boxes and on tv.apple.com.
Once you have your Apple ID, you can use it to log into the Apple TV app (if you’re watching on a gaming console, smart TV or other streaming device, you may need to install the app first). From there, go to the Search tap and click or tap on “Apple TV+ Major League Baseball.
Stephen Nelson, Hunter Pence and Katie Nolan are scheduled to call the game on Apple TV+.
